A J Milne is a bespoke joinery and cabinet making business with over 20 years’ experience covering Edinburgh area. It is a one man business.
Ally is a time served cabinet maker, having completed his apprenticeship with old, established Edinburgh cabinet makers, Whytock and Reid and during this time was involved in restoration work on HMS Britannia and at Calendar Park House in Falkirk. He worked with another Edinburgh cabinet maker and with Historic Scotland at Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle prior to becoming self-employed in 2001.
All manner of finishing joinery and cabinet making work is available from dressing rooms and bespoke furniture to glass balustrades. Full renovations can also be undertaken. Although he is a one man business he has contacts and has worked with all trades.
Ally is particularly interested in bespoke pieces notably fitted wardrobes, bookcases, alcoves floating shelves, windows seats etc and has undertaken small and large commissions in the area. Some work has been carried out in particularly difficult situations e.g. in attic rooms with coomb ceilings. Larger commissions have involved the complete planning, designing and fitting of , for example dressing rooms, and work studies.
Last, but not least, given his cabinet making background, he is able to offer an antique and modern furniture repair and restoration service of high quality.
Ally Milne is someone you can trust and rely on to provide high quality, tidy work. Always willing to listen to the customer’s review and work with them to achieve what they require, all at a very fair and competitive price.
